Show Me the Money
Coco San Diego has had quite the hiatus from blogging. I know, I know. My thousands of followers are up in arms. I don't blame you...
Well, what the heck have I been doing?! It might be shocking, but I actually have a FULL-TIME job working for the YMCA. No, I don't work with kids. No, I don't teach swim lessons. And I am ABSOLUTELY NOT a personal trainer or coach. I know what you are thinking... What jobs are left then? Don't worry, I get the same responses from everyone.
Believe it or not, I support an amazing group of fundraisers that go out in our community and raise funds on behalf of the YMCA. So I help people put on galas? a-thons? Bake sales? Wrong, again my friends. Our YMCA in San Diego County raises roughly $6.4 million in individual giving to fund scholarships to ensure all people have equal access to the Y and our programs. That is right, people like you and me that give to an organization. In fact, about 16,000 wonderful people make up that $6.4 million.
So what's my role in it? Well, in San Diego we run 16 Annual Campaigns at each of our YMCA locations. An Annual Campaign runs about 6 weeks with anywhere from 100 to 250 volunteers raising the funds. Any component of making sure each one of the volunteers and individual YMCAs are successful is what is my job. Basically to ensure that we make our goal. Let's put it this way, our goal this year was $6.3 million and we raised $6.4... SO YES, I AM A BIG FREAKING DEAL. I am also very modest. ;-)
Anyway, all this post was to make me feel good about myself and give my excuse of why I haven't posted. But guess what, babes.... SHEEEEEE'SSSSS BAAAAACCCKKKK and ready for SUMMER!
