Valentine's to Galentine's
Who run the world? GIRLS.
January 21, 2017. A day that will legitimately go down in history. A day that still brings me to tears to think about. A day where over 5 million people around the world came together in solidarity to stand for women's rights. It was hands down one of those experiences that I will never forget.
February 14, 2017. The first Valentine's Day that IDGAF (Boomers just google IDGAF already. Also, sorry for the profanity). It seems like every year I would get disappointed with unrealistic expectations played up in my head. SHOCKER. In fact, this was the first year I found myself scrambling for a card to give to my husband. This year shifted for me.
For those of you that actually know me, which is all of you because let's be honest it is all friends and family following this blog. You know that I have a passion for supporting one's local community. Always have, always will. In the Bay Area, I was super plugged into community outreach and just haven't found my spot down in San Diego yet. Well, after almost two years, on January 21st, the fire was relit!
Combining my #GIRLBOSS mentality, my passion for outreach and my love for the YMCA, I decided this Valentine's Day was going to be about making young adult mother's feel loved, appreciated and worthy. This Valentine's Day was going to be Galentine's Day.
Why?
Because every woman should feel beautiful. Know that she is worthy. That her voice can change the world. Her smile can brighten a day. No matter the cards that she is dealt, she is strong despite what the world tells her. Her opinion matters. And most importantly that she is loved.
This Galentine's Day I am thankful for the tribe of women that raised me, lifted me up when I was down, pushed me to know my worth and loved me unconditionally. I am thankful for the group of young adult moms (and two dads!) who opened their hearts up to me and Andrew tonight. I am thankful for all of you ladies reading this. Okay, okay, you too guys.
So gal pals, here's to strong women.
"May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them."
Happy Galentine's Day! You are worth far more than you could ever imagine.
